About

Tuesday Night Swap is about two women, who are long-time friends and recent neighbors and new mommies, who embrace the idea that a basic gift we have as mommies is to nourish our families with homecooked meals made with fresh ingredients.  In addition, we were certain that sharing our kitchen creations would help to lighten the load of the other.....so, in the Winter of 2009 we decided to swap dinners on a rotating Tuesday night schedule.  Initially, our dinners served just the four adults in each family (leaving the little one's meal up to their own mommy ), but since both of us take great care and pride in our responsibility to provide healthy fresh meals for not only the adults in the family but our little ones as well, we occasionally share meals and snacks made just with the little ones in mind.  So, we we will write about those foods too.

It was winter when we first started our swap so our menu consisted of soups/stews and then as Spring and Summer approached we lightened things up with a weekly menu of Sandwiches.  With the first sign of cool temps and a few rain soaked days in early Autumn 2010, we were feeling warm and earthy and swithched things up to One Pot Dishes.  We plan to continue changing our theme based on seasonal fresh and local produce as well as what our soul's tell us we are hungry for.

Both of us believe that encouraging healthy eating habits is arguably one of the most important things we can do to invest in our family's lifelong healthy habits.  We also both embrace the idea that a crucial healthy habit is the act of sharing daily home-cooked meals around a common table.  It is nourishing and restorative for one's soul and our relationships with our loved ones, but even simpler and to be quite frank, is sacred family time.  Everyone is present in body and spirit, sharing the same orbit  with one another over a hearty meal and conversation.
